Chadwick Dolphins Vs. Thacher Toads
In their first win of the 2025-2026 season, Chadwick football defeated Thacher in a thrilling 36-30 back and forth game. Chadwick was deadlocked at halftime but ended up outscoring Thacher in the 3rd quarter by 6 points and then not giving up a point for the rest of the game. Chadwick looked to bounce back from their tough loss the previous week and did so largely through their high-powered offense.
Starting QB Bryson Edgar had a QB rating of 137.3 and was largely the catalyst for Chadwick's offensive explosion this game. On top of the passing, Edgar shut the game down through his running as well, rushing for 64 yards. Running wise, Chadwick is right back where they left off, but with even more depth this time around. Ben Wandrick, Malik Sims, and Will Hutter are all major depth pieces in their run game and add that extra layer of strength to this teams backfield.
Receiving Corps
The receiving corps of Chadwick are starting to come into play this season as a strong suit, and this game was no different, with Keefe Mooney, Luc Slocum, and Thomas Newman exploding for a total combined yardage of 170 out of only 12 receptions. Slocum had 2 touchdowns and a 38 yard long, and Chadwick's receivers seem to be ready for a massive season.

Defensive Adjustment
Defensively, it was the same as it was last year. First team all-league linebacker Asher Goldberg exploded the Thacher Toads defense with 2 Tackles For Loss and 17 total tackles, which was more than twice as many as the second most tackles of the Chadwick defense. Malik Sims tacked on an interception himself, and the defense seemed to find their rhythm as the game went on, holding to Toads scoreless in the 4th quarter when leading by only 6. Malik Sims stated, "We played terrible in the first half, but ramped up in the second half." Their defense is the do or die factor of this team, and if the defense can consistently hold their opponents under 21 points, then they can trust their offense to outgain their opponent in those scenarios.

What's Next?
For the team to continue finding success, the Chadwick defense needs to find out how to limit explosivle plays and large gains. Star defensive player Malik Sims said, "We need to limit explosive plays. In both games, we have been scored on because of explosive plays." They clearly don't have a major issue with forcing TFLs, with a total of 7.0 TFLs in their matchup against Thacher, but to hold their opposing offenses more so than they already are, the key is going to come down to forcing their opponent to play the long game and more methodical, letting them make the mistakes.
On the flip side, Chadwick's offense itself seems to have found its rhythm much more than the previous week, scoring 36 points and their offense being the definition of explosive. Their priority offensively should be to keep this rhythm going in this weeks game against Animo Robinson on the road, with Robinson struggling mightily the last few games. Game takes place this Friday and begins at 7:00 PM.
