Micah Parsons contract negotiations have been interesting, to say the least. In many instances like this, it is easy to write off as simple owner shenanigans, but for Jerry Jones there seems to be a real fear at the thought of losing Parsons. Sure, the Cowboys could franchise tag Parsons, but whether he will be motivated to play for a team like the Cowboys right now is the real question that lies ahead.
Jerry Jones is said to refuse to do deals alongside Parsons agent, believing him to be the primary reason for the extended negotiations. Similarly, he claims that Parsons was offered the largest non-QB contract ever, which begs the question as to why Parsons would not have signed it. Whether Jerry Jones actually offered parsons a contract that big is irrelevant, as it seems that Parsons is disinterested with what has been offered by Jones thus far has been unsavory on his terms.
Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer says that he will discuss the contract situations with Parsons directly over the next week or so, and what some out of that discussion will likely be the driving force of Parsons decisions and whether or not he will ask for a trade.
